Elon Musk’s fellowship of the Royal Society remains intact after a meeting of the scientific body, the Guardian has learned, but questions remain about whether further action will be taken.
Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO who also owns the social media platform X, was elected a fellow of the UK’s national academy of sciences in 2018, apparently in recognition of his work in the space and electric vehicle industries.

Soaring levels of crime are costing Britain’s economy as much as £250bn a year, according to a report that blames austerity for a breakdown in policing and criminal justice.
The report by the centre-right thinktank Policy Exchange, backed by the former Conservative chancellor and home secretary Sajid Javid, said that years of cuts to funding for the police, prisons and courts had contributed to a dramatic rise in crime which was holding back the economy.

Norfolk Holdings has completed its majority takeover of Norwich, with Delia Smith and her husband Michael Wynn Jones no longer part of the club’s board.
It was announced in August that Norfolk Holdings, led by Milwaukee Brewers owner Mark Attanasio, was set to increase its shareholding to around 85%, which would result in Smith and Wynn Jones stepping down as directors and becoming honorary life presidents.
