Trump ‘strongly considering’ Russia sanctions until Ukraine peace agreed – Europe live

US president says he could implement ‘large scale banking sanctions and tariffs’ in post on social media

Meanwhile, in Ukraine… Russia launched a “massive” drone and missile attack on Ukrainian energy facilities early Friday, just days after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European allies proposed that Moscow and Kyiv halt strikes on critical infrastructure, AFP reported.

The Ukrainian air force said Russia had launched at least 58 missiles and nearly 200 drones, damaging energy facilities across the country from Kharkiv in the east to Ternopil in the west.

Millwall’s Liam Roberts hit with six-match ban for challenge on Mateta: football – live

Southampton: With the teams separated by 52 points, Southampton face a daunting weekend trip to Anfield, where nobody gives the Premier League’s bottom side a snowball’s chance in hell of adding to their tally of nine points against the table-toppers.

While Ivan Juric could be forgiven for whimpering in fear behind the sofa, the Saints boss fronted up at his press conference to declare his side – who have already given Liverpool a decent run for their money on two separate occasions this season – will try to give a good account of themselves.

No one is sleeping in Murwillumbah. All we can do now is wait for Tropical Cyclone Alfred, the malevolent beast

Music blares, sirens wail and the wind roars as the flood-weary northern NSW town braces for another anxious night

In the anxiety of Thursday night as Tropical Cyclone Alfred neared Murwillumbah, a surprising number of people turned up the music and danced. You could hear it coming from houses across the northern New South Wales town. “It helped,” says Connor Hartog. On Friday evening, the wind rose to a hiss and a roar; soon it will be a shriek.

Trees bend down, the ground sodden with rain and the town deserted. Sirens wail in the distance. Electricity and phone reception are going in and out at a time when communication is survival. Water is restricted.

‘We swap ideas in the canteen’: Sunderland united with men’s and women’s teams

Academy of Light is a shining example for the game as Melanie Reay prepares for FA Cup test at Manchester United

Melanie Reay is leading the way through the maze of corridors inside the Academy of Light when a corner is turned and she almost collides with Régis Le Bris. The managers of Sunderland’s women’s and men’s teams stop for a brief, friendly chat. It is a commonplace occurrence at this fully integrated, Premier League standard, first-team training ground where Jobe Bellingham, Enzo Le Fée, Wilson Isidor and the rest of Le Bris’s players share facilities, the canteen included, with Reay’s squad.

Similar sorts of arrangements remain depressingly rare with too many men’s managers paying lip-service to the importance of their club’s women’s side but would have palpitations at the idea of sharing a weekday HQ.

Could Elon Musk’s newfound political influence help him finally crack India?

The world’s richest man has spent years trying to get Starlink into the fast-growing economy. It could serve as a beachhead for his other business ambitions in India

It is easy to believe that Elon Musk’s reach knows no limits. But while the world’s richest man may control a space satellite empire, own one of the largest social media platforms, produce the world’s bestselling electric car, and have been given carte blanche by Donald Trump to gut the US government, there is one market that Musk has yet to properly crack: India.

Now, with his newfound influence over the Trump administration and global geopolitics, it appears likely that Musk’s entrance into the Indian market, both with his Tesla electric cars and his Starlink satellite internet, may come smoother and faster than expected.
